Nokia 6300 With Hyperterminal

I have been trying to get my Nokia 6300 phone connected to my computer with a data cable and operate AT commands on it through the Hyperterminal. Well I checked a few books on the internet which were quite useful to a newbie like me.

So after completely understanding all the details a beginner needs, I connect my phone to the computer through a data cable(connection can also be established with bluetooth) with all the phone drivers installed on my system.

I opened the hyperterminal on my windows XP SP2 system located at Start/Programs/Accessories/Communications/Hyperterminal. It asked for a name to be given to the new connection, I entered one and then came a window which asked for the post number of the phone device. This information can be found on the "Control Panel/ Phones and Modems" click on the device you connected and then click on properties. One can also find the maximum bit rate for that device and some more information which the hyperterminal will require to configure the connection. Once this is done your phone has been successfully connected to the computer and all operations can be performed using the hyperterminal.

I started with the command AT which returned OK. I tried a few simple commands which returned fine results. I could access my Phone contact lists both SIM and Phone memory, Send messages as SMSs and do loads of other stuff.

The problem raised when I tried using the CMGR command to read the stored messages. I tried the various combinations of the command but all returned error. Also the CPMS command returned ', , , , , ,' whereas it must output the available memory locations. I can send messages but cannot store or retrieve them.

Also when I try to Dial a number it starts dialling but after an interval shows NO CARRIER DETECTED.

I would appreciate any help on these issues.
